Learning tooth preparation procedures is one of the key educational goals in preclinical dental education. The goal of this study was to see how different preparation schemes affected the development of students’ manual dexterity to undertake cutting-edge tooth preparation.

Typodonts have been found to be an excellent teaching tool when used to train basic principles prior to practising on clinical patients. The goal of the study was to see if independent study and self-guided practice on a veterinary typodont before a structured, in-person periodontal technique assessment improved dental clinical abilities. By comparing the students’ perceived and intended skill levels in periodontal charting, ultrasonic cleaning, hand scaling, and root planing before and after the cadaver lab, we will compare the knowledge gap before and after the training. This practice with the dental typodont boosted their confidence in completing periodontal skills.
